The A-2 flight jacket is a classic bomber-style jacket that was first introduced in the 1930s, also known as the "Army Air Corps" or "Air Force" jacket, was originally invented and developed for U.S. Army Air Forces pilots, navigators, and bombardiers during World War II.
The jacket was designed to provide pilots with protection from the cold and wind while flying at high altitudes, and was made from high-quality leather to withstand the rigors of flight. The Bomber jacket was a popular choice among pilots and air crew during the war, and was worn by many famous pilots such as General Jimmy Doolittle, who led the first bombing raid on Tokyo in 1942. The jacket was also worn by other famous airmen such as Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, the top American ace of World War I, and General Hap Arnold, the commanding general of the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII.
The jacket featured a front zipper, two front pockets, a fur-lined collar, and knit cuffs and waistband. The leather was treated with a special process to make it resistant to water and wind, and the jacket was lined with a warm, insulated material to keep pilots warm in the cold and drafty cockpits of their aircraft.
